WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP – Bunker Hill Middle School recently debuted its Chicken Kissing Booth, and it was a highlight for the entire school. This wasn't just a fun event; it was a masterclass in collaboration and creativity.

BHMS students were proud of the "Chicken Kissing Booth" they created.

Students in Ms. Brenda Powers-BenAttou's classes — especially those with a passion for construction and art — took a simple marketplace microwave cart and completely transformed it right before everyone's eyes.

With help from the technology education teacher Mr. Matthew Potter – who provided expert guidance and tools to turn a kitchen cart into a sturdy, practical booth – and the art teachers – who provided supplies and a creative spark to make the booth look as charming as its feathery occupants – students worked hard to solve problems and create a space that brought smiles to everyone who walked by.

Special thanks went out to the janitorial staff, who made sure the pecking area was spotless and sanitized afterwards.

Mrs. Powers-BenAttou and her family raise and train therapy chickens for events in South Jersey, and she was thrilled to incorporate that love into her classroom with her students.

“Seeing the school community come together to enjoy a little ‘chicken therapy’ was unforgettable,” Mrs. BenAttou said. “Our feathery therapists handled the fame! I am permanently smiling from the BHMS chicken therapy pecking booth event. Hosting a chicken therapy event is truly magical. There is something profoundly calming about the soft clucks and gentle nature of these feathery friends. Watching everyone connect with the chickens — feeling the stress melt away in just a few minutes — was the best reward."
